Product Description

Up for sale, a 2011 Fender American Special Stratocaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A new spin on an old classic, the American Special pairs a trio of Custom Shop Texas Special single coils with the snappy, round note attack of a maple fretboard and alder body. Vintage and modern specs come together seamlessly on this model, with a six point vintage-style vibrato unit, modern Schaller tuning machines, and the larger more curvaceous headstock associated with '70s Fenders.

Tonally, there's plenty of range and single coil chime on tap, with a bridge pickup that's all sparkle and clarity, 2 and 4 positions on the switch that deliver the quintessential Strat quack, and a neck pickup that is all girth for the perfect solo sound. The slightly increased output and midrange presence of the Texas Specials also helps these pickups drive your rig into sweet overdrive. The guitar weighs in at 8lbs 2oz and has been professionally setup and freshly restrung here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar.

The maple neck has a smooth satin finish on the medium C shaped profile, with 22 medium jumbo frets and a modern 9.5" fretboard radius. The frets show very light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3 and even fainter flattening of the crowns beneath those same strings until roughly fret 6, with virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The guitar plays cleanly in all positions and these frets have ample height and roundness for decades of future use. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the Schaller-made and Fender-branded tuning machines turn very smoothly with flawless chrome plating. These tuners also hold pitch extremely well even with liberal use of the vibrato.

All of the electronics work as they should, and a brand new five-way pickup selector switch has just been installed to ensure years of trouble-free use. The white plastic parts are in great shape as is the chrome plated bridge and jack cup, and the Candy Apple Red finish is deep and vibrant with subtle metalflake. In terms of cosmetic wear, there are a few small nicks and finish chips around the body contours as well as a few stray finish scratches mostly relegated to the back. This is a lightly played, professionally setup, and visually appealing Strat that's ready for stage and studio use!
