Mandolin

handmade of all solid tonewoods in Germany (Markneukirchen) probably around the 1880s (maybe earlier)

-about 60cm total length, scale lenght about 33,5cm
- solid slightly arched quality spruce top with wooden fishbone edge and checkerboard binding, inlayed original pickguard, with nice inlayed ebony ring with pearl ornaments surrounded with multiplr wooden checkerboard rings around the soundhole
- solid quality bowlback body made of 15 segments + shell, body lenght 30cm, body depht 9cm, body wide on bout 18,7cm
- totally straight neck, quality fingerboard with pearl dots, 17 frets, original bone nut, width at nut: 26,5mm, grafted Gibson-stle headstock, with brass plate: AUG: CLEMENS GLIER, MUSIKINSTRUEMNTE UND MUSIKWERKE, MARKNEUKIRCHEN i/S
-original tuners with small polished bone pegs (two knobs and a gearwheel (left tread) were replaced once, gorgeous graved tunerplate with birds and art nouveau tribals/decors
- ebony bridge
-original tailpiece

The mandolin is in age related very good condition and fully playable with good string action (2,0mm E1 on the 12th fret).
 Loosen glue beetween two bowlback segements was renewed in a former (and well done) repair.
Otherwise, there are no cracks or other damages on this fine piece
 
The original shellac varnish is showing someauthentic and characteristical signs of the time and playing

The fingerboard is showing as good as no signs of playing The frets are showing no signs of wear and have beend rounded, the fingerboard was cleaned and oiled
