The High Spirits Double Merlin Flute in the key of "C" is made from walnut, a hardwood. The flute is then sealed with non-toxic oils, giving this flute a clear, bright voice.
This flute is the highest octave in the key of "C" we make. The Double Flutes are as easy to play as the Single Flutes, they take just a little bit more breath. With a double flute you play the melody on one side and the other side provides the drone in the root note of the flute - it sounds like two people are playing. Our Double Flutes have two mouthpieces so you can play it as a double flute or a single flute instantly, without adjustments. Our style is unique and generates good amplitude (volume) and the drone side plays the low and high octaves easily. This Double Flute is a good accompaniment flute for the . The flute is tuned in the key of "C" minor and can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of "D#". It is a 6-hole flute, we cover the 3rd hole from the top of the flute (known as the 6th hole) with a leather tie, giving the option to use it as a 6-hole or a 5-hole flute. It is easier to learn on a 5-hole flute.
