Washburn Lyon and Healy Model 5350 Concert scale Ukulele, 1920s, ssc. This rare Washburn model marketed as a "tenor" may be according to Walsh and Kings "The Martin Ukulele" book one of the earliest concert scale ukuleles. 15 and 3/4" scale, 24"s overall. This was a professional model marketed at the higher end of ukuleles of that era. All mahogany construction, bone nut, saddle and bridge pins, mahogany "smile" bridge, rosewood fingerboard, white celluloid binding top, back, heel cap and sound hole, four pearl position dots at frets 5, 7, 10 and 12, original and working mechanical tuners, ivorine kite inlay in the headstock. Partial end pin, re-glued sound hole "binding ring," glued but not cleated hairline crack (see photo 13), common to this era strap hole drilled in the peg head (see photo). Tuned to guitar tuning DGBE (recommended in the 1920 era catalogue) using a custom string set but I'll include a concert string set as well. Action on the higher side at 4/32nds plus on both treble and bass strings at the twelfth fret.
