Custom Gibson H-4 Mandola 1917 Dark Red Sunburst

This Gibson H-4 mandola is one of the rarest and desirable of all Gibson brand mandolin-family-instruments - prewar Florentine design.  This is a fancy instrument, having the Handel inlaid tuning buttons, each inlaid with silver and pearl, bound peghead and fingerboard, six pearl dotmarkers in ebony board, bound top and back, back and sides are highly figured flame maple, close and parallel grained spruce top in red sunburst, fancy oval soundhole purfling, original pickguard with 3/30/09 patent and 7/4/11 patent clamp.  "The Gibson" in abalone in peghead with fancy double flowerpot inlay and "The Gibson" and floral design engraved on tailpiece cover. Adjustable bridge was added by a later owner.  Case is original hard shell.  Very minor play wear and no buckle dings.  All around a very wonderful instrument for the player or collector. There is some slight string buzz coming from the nut, but easily fixed.
