This Gold Tone ME-Bass is a lightweight, single cutaway, solid body bass that captures warm and full string bass low end, but it's smaller than most guitars!

The ME-Bass's secret weapon lies in its electronics. The saddle mounted piezo pickup actually has four individual transducers, one for each string. The result is greatly improved string-to string articulation and improved pitch definition. The bridge is a “stoptail" design and comes with special long-throw, adjustable compensation. This allows the player to change the scale length for polymer or steel strings.

The ME-Bass utilizes a 23” inch scale length, which is significantly longer than the 19” to 20" "ukelele" basses that are on the market. The extra length increases string tension, improving intonation and focus. If you've tried a “uke” bass and felt like you were playing rubber bands, you'll know what I mean.

Workmanship on this instrument is quite good and the ME-Bass is built with traditional quality tonewoods throughout. The body and neck are entirely mahogany, long known for its focused and punchy voice. Additionally, the top has a forearm bevel and the back has a tummy bevel. You don't just hold this bass...it hugs you back. The fretboard is rosewood which adds a bit of top-end to the sound. The rich satin finish is thinly applied and feels great in the player's hands. The fretwork is outstanding, with no sharp ends and properly dressed crowns, and the rosewood fretboard is completely free of the gray streaking and discoloration that has become so common these days. The neck joint is squeaky tight and held firmly via the four-bolt mounting. The open-gear tuners work very smoothly and hold pitch snugly. Yeah, you're gonna like this bass....
