The MT is Collings' entry-level satin finish A-model with simplified appointments. Few new mandolins sound as vibrant and precise as a Collings. It's hard to beat a fully carved Englemann spruce top on an Eastern flamed maple back and sides, also fully carved. Englemann spruce provides excellent clarity and focus with lots of projection and headroom. Each wood used in the construction of the MF mandolin is acquired, acclimated, and hand selected by master luthiers who pick each component with the whole tonality of the end instrument in mind. You can expect this A-model to produce the rich, woody tone that one would expect from a professional quality mandolin. The Collings MT is undoubtedly one of the best values out there in a professional quality A-model mandolin.
