Custom 2006 Fodera Emperor 5-string

This Fodera bass was custom made in 2006. All the wood had been aged 65 years by the time the bass was carved. The body shape is a standard Emperor. Unique customizations include the Abalone inlay, hand-rubbed red translucent finish, Birdseye maple cover on the headstock, the custom-wound single coil pickups, and the Macassar Ebony ramp between the pickups.

The bass has had only one owner and has hardly even been played live. It was used mostly in the studio and kept in a climate controlled space. The bass is in perfect condition and will increase in value over the years—it has already doubled in value since it was built.

The sound is rooted in the best parts of a 1972 Fender Jazz Bass. Modern additions like the active preamp add the ability to sculpt the sound to fit any style. The bass is rich and warm with great low-mid punch, and an undeniable growl from the bridge pickup.

This bass began its life as a fretless. Brand new jumbo frets were installed by Fodera in May 2016. They are in perfect shape and will only need to be addressed after many years of constant playing.
