This is a Hofner 500/1 Violin Bass reissue made in Germany likely in the early 1990s. Hofner has reissued the Beatle bass several times reflecting different eras of production. This particular model shares features with those made in the early 60's. This includes:
Blade PickupsPearloid pickguard with logoThe silver "Höfner" headstock logo with the "pre-westernized" umlaut-öLong tailpieceSloped neck joint4 Independent Tuners (as opposed to the 2x2 configuration)This is a seemingly rare reproduction run. The Fresh set of Pyramid Gold flatwound strings installed (not pictured). Plays and sounds great. Extremely light-weight and harbors that classic, woody, lower-midrange glow. Neck is straight, frets are great. It is in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear, including several checks in the lacquer. It has been professionally set up and is ready to thump! Comes with brand new genuine Hofner tweed hard shell case, or it can be shipped in original black Hofner hard shell case.
