Custom Ampeg ASB-1 Devil Scroll Bass Solid Body RARE w/Original Case

A very rare and special Ampeg ASB-1 Scroll Bass in great working and playing condition! Known as the Devil Bass or Longhorn Bass, for obvious reasons, their were only very few of these made. Devil Basses were made randomly from late '66 through late '67, in small batches and stemmed from one Ampeg employee in late 66' when finally getting the go ahead to start production only lasting a short time. There are believed to be 100 made in that time period, 75 fretted (ASB-1) and 25 fretless (AUSB-1). This is one of those 75 fretted. With the serial # at 1048, this bass falls into the later period of production where they started making them out of solid maple instead of the early laminate constructed models (serial numbers 1000 and under). Originally finished with a dark red with black stained edges, this one appears to have been refinished. Everything else, including hardware and pickups are original and correct. Neck is straight and plays great with next to no fret wear. Also included is the original case which is in rough shape on the exterior, but still very solid. Just has black covering ripped and peeling in areas. 

This bass I'm sure has a pretty unique story starting from its beginnings in 1967 and somehow landing here in Canada. In really nice condition for its age and definitely playable. Pickups and pots work and sound clean. Everything works like it should. All in all a very cool piece of history thats sure to impress!
