Custom Fender Jazz Bass 1972 3 Tone Sunburst

For sale we have a cool, vintage 1972 Fender Jazz Bass. This example appears to be all original except that the pick up and bridge cover are missing.

We dated the bass based on the neck plate stamp, the Stackpole potentiometer codes, as well as the date stamped on the heel. The serial number dates this bass between '71-73'. The pot codes indicate they were made in the 5th week of 1972. The stamp on the heel is very faded, however, when different light filter were placed over the photo you can visibly make out "MAR 72". This photo is included. Please refer to the photos for verification. 

Condition: This bass is listed as Fair Condition due a few factors. The finish on the back is worn through. It looks super cool and has killer mojo but is worn down to the wood. The finish has all the awesome and crazy looking checking that CBS era Fenders are known for. The main issue with this bass is that the neck is fairly twisted. It has an uneven slope as well as some inconsistency between the bass and treble sides. The twist in the headstock is pretty significant and obvious. I attempted to photograph the angle. The worst of it seems to in the head stock region.

The play-ability is affected by this warping as the action gets a little high up the neck. All this being said, this is a highly collectible instrument. In the hands of a skilled luthier and with a little investment this instrument can be made to play much better.
