Custom Vox Clubman bass 1961-5 red

Vox Clubman bass made in England between 1961 and 1965 and was only of the first Vox models. Its in red showing a little lacquer checking on the back but really is in a nice condition. The scratchplate is in white and contains the two Chromed single coil pickups each with a volume control and one overall tone control. The jackplug socket has possibly been changed as the original may well have been a mini socket and would need a special cable.

The bridge/tailpiece is adjustable and works well but it can sometimes be a bit difficult to adjust the intonation to be perfectly exact. The chromed bridge cover is still unusually there and it is stamped ''Vox''. The sycamore bridge is bolted on and the fingerboard has 20 frets; and the headstock bears the ''Vox'' logo and the words ''JMI Dartford Kent'' - Jennings Music made much of the early Vox guitars in the town of Dartford in the county of Kent. The words ''Vox Clubman'' have almost worn off. The covered tuners are also stamped''Vox'' and are very rare models.

This little bass is pretty rare, it is all original apart from one home made tuner button and maybe a replaced jackplug socket - but it all works and has its original leather strap.
