Product Description
Truetone Music is proud and honored to be able to bring to you, this amazing vintage instrument with it's rich history.
This 1954 Fender Precision bass is all original, and a monster of a bass. Nothing compares the sound, feel and look of one of these original naturally-reliced relics. This one is no exception.
It is all original, and it has a neck to die for. It is big and very comfortable. Its the type of feel that you do not want to put down after holding it for just a few minutes. The original Fender "pencil" pickup is one of the sweetest sounding pickups ever made. It appears to have been rewound at some point, possibly by Fender, and it is missing an extra ground wire for the pickup cover. Weighing in at 8.6lbs, the tone is round, full, deep and pronounced. Everything you would expect from a bass of this vintage.
It was owned, played and loved by rock legend, Glenn Cornick, an original and founding member of the band Jethro Tull. He played this bass for years, right up until his untimely death in 2014.
Glenn toured and recorded with Jethro Tull from late 1967 to late 1970. He played in the three first studio albums of the band, This Was, Stand Up and Benefit, playing an important role in the arranging of the music, being one of the few members of Jethro Tull with some musical learning. During his time with the band, he established his stage persona, with strong virtuosity and remarkable music competence. One of the few live recordings of Cornick with Jethro Tull is the video Nothing is Easy - Live at the Isle of Wright, recorded in 1970 and released in 2004.
We acquired it directly from his widow and a certificate of authenticity from Truetone Music is included.
These magnificent instruments are hard to come by, and one with a provenience like this one is a true find.
