Custom Ibanez Musician Bass MC-824 1979 Brown Natural

Ibanez Musician MC 824 bass manufactured in November 1979. Serial number: K796354 This is a beautiful 38-year-old bass with plenty of life left in it. The neck- through design and brass nut provide a lot of sustain. The neck is great, down deep "where the money is." Action is a bit higher way up the neck (see photos). The frets have some wear but are still good, and most everything is original. The plug-in jack was improvised before I got this bass in the early 1980s. A few years ago one of the tuners needed replacing because the case design put weight on the G-string tuner. The most comparable replacement was a Gotoh which is slightly smaller, thus the small hole on the back of the head (see photo). The other tuners are stock and in terrific shape. This instrument holds itself in tune nicely, can really growl and offers a good range of sonic choices. The MC 824 is the passive electronics version of this bass line.
There are some dings that go along with any 38-year-old bass. The significant ones are in the photos. Some instruments feel good when played and therefore get lots of playing time. Others are pretty but just don't feel quite right. This is a player's instrument. It feels great in your hands. A previous owner got in good playing time as the front finish lacquer shows some wear. The rest of the bass has a nice sheen. None of the dings/blemishes affect the play, sustain, or overall look of the bass, other than to suggest it has serious character. In consideration of all disclosures, the bass is being sold as is without return, so please read the description and examine pics before bidding.
