Custom 2007 Fender Custom Shop 55 Precision Bass Heavy Relic, 8.2 lb.

Back in 2007 Fender announced that they were going to stop production of the Custom Shop 55 Precision Bass. I had been wanting one for awhile, so I took this as a sign that I should probably pull the trigger on one. At that time I had recently started seeing some Strats and Teles with a Heavy Relic finish, so I contacted my favorite CS Authorized Dealer and asked if that was an option for this bass. He called them up, and they said they could do it. The Heavy Relic finish was something that Fender CS never advertised for their stock line, so I’m not sure there are any others out there like this one.

The pickup currently installed on the bass is a Lindy Fralin Split ’51 P-Bass pickup. It sounds very close to the original, which will be included, but without the 60-cycle hum.

This bass is a super comfortable and resonate 8.2 lbs. and has also just been professionally setup with a set of DR Dragon Skin strings.
