Custom Vintage Vega Fairbanks Model Style K Banjolin Banjo Mandolin

Up for sale is this cool early 19th century Vega Fairbanks "Style K" Banjo Mandolin, with original hardshell case, serial number 34598 on rim and support rod. This is a nice example of a Vega, nothing too fancy but a solid instrument. It has an open back and what appears to be a mahogany rim, with a nice tortoise inlay. Stained maple neck with ebony fingerboard, 22 brackets, 10-1/4" head diameter, and nice open gear tuners. Head appears to be original or old.

This banjo is in good condition for it's age. Cosmetically it's in nice shape with no cracks, hardware in great shape, neck and headstock very clean. One of the tuner buttons has a small crack in it. It looks like a few frets have been replaced. Our techs removed the neck and shaved the neck pocket a bit so it could be set up with lower action, and added a new bridge. The action does get a little dicey about the 10th fret but the neck is pretty straight overall still. It has a nice sound and with a few more minor tweaks will be a perfect player.
