Mike Lull makes a modern J that really retains vintage woody flavor. The traditional 34" scale length combined with the alder body & rosewood fingerboard on this bass really imparts a pre-CBS flavor but with a very usable B string. This bass weighs in at 8 pounds 14 ounces & sounds fantastic. It's warm & smooth but still very articulate & authoritative. The tone is big & open when played with a light touch but shows its teeth when you dig in with fingers or thumb. G & D strings are crisp yet round while the B is focused & clear. The Duncan hum-canceling pickups really nail the original Jazz tone in passive mode while the Bartolini 18 volt 3 band preamp brings a huge sonic pallet to the table. Bridge pickup sounds great soloed; not too thin or brittle & the neck pickup is warm, smooth & articulate.

The custom metallic finish & matching headstock are sleek & stunning. 21 PLEKed medium jumbo frets, 12" radius fingerboard & spectacular set-up make playability outstanding. The angled neck heel makes access to the upper frets a breeze. You won't find a more playable bass on the market. Fit, finish & set up are perfect. Hipshot hardware.
