Custom Fender 1956 Precision Bass w/11 Famous Rock & Roll Signatures on Back - Very Cool!

Here is a one of a kind opportunity to have a one of a kind instrument. Not only is it a wonderful sounding and playing 1956 Fender Precision bass, but it has been signed by 11 of the top names in rock and roll, blues, and country music. The bass was owned by a musician in the midwest and at a certain point, he decided to have the bass signed on the back by famous musicians who he was fortunate to meet. Very cool display piece that happens to be a super cool vintage Fender bass as well! The bass itself was refinished at a certain point by the original owner, so as to preserve the signatures on the back. The bass appears to have the original parts, but I'm in no way trying to present this as an untouched period example, as the re-finish itself proves that it isn't. The re-finish has been done beautifully. The top of the neck has been re-finished as well, but not the back of the neck (for ease of play) It is a beautiful instrument. I believe the rest is original, except for the lack of pick guard, bridge cover, pickup cover and the change of pots and knobs. The serial number on the plate dates it to '56, as does the neck style and the through body stringing. The owner also put a '56 badge on the neck where the dating had originally been. The refinishing has also covered any other pencil dating from the factory on the body, but everything about the bass points to it being a 1956 Precision, including the "spaghetti style" logo on the head-stock. I acquired the bass from the family of the original owner and from this we know the bass's origins and that all the signatures are genuine. I have also had the signatures examined to be authentic and have a certificate which will accompany the instrument. The musicians who signed the instrument are: Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, Willie Nelson, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Carl Wilson, Mike Love, & Bruce Johnson (of the Beach Boys), Gordon Lightfoot, George Thorogood, and Mitch Ryder. How cool is that? The bass plays and sounds great, but of course the new owner will want it set up to suit their own preferences.

On the bottom on the neck, the original owner wrote a note that he restored the bass. He refers to it as a "transition" bass, referring to how this was the last of this style of Precision, before Fender re-designed it in 1957. He also notes that it was "not original when purchased", referring to the lack of pick-guard, lack of metal bridge and pickup covers, and the change of the pots and knobs.

There is some fret buzz here and there, so the bass will need to be pro tweaked and set up.
