Custom Dark Sparkle P - custom P-style 4 string bass

What you are viewing is a unique Gildaxe artistic statement and an equally killer player. Assembled using top-level components, the Dark Sparkle P takes no prisoners. The body is made of solid ash that has been heavily chambered to lighten its weight and sonically enhance its acoustic quality. The Warmoth J neck is made of beautiful wenge with an ebony board topped off with pearloid blocks and gold frets. The 70's vintage RI Gotoh tuners are a gold/silver mix, as is the high-mass brass bridge/saddles. The nut is slotted brass, and gold Dunlop Straplok's are installed. The pickup is a Curtis Novak Darkstar, and the electronics include a single stacked CTS 500k/500k [V/T] w/a .047 uF 22v Sprague od cap. It's strung with rounds, but flats would also sound great on this bass.

This bass sounds monstrous - big, deep, rich, clear tone that rings like a church bell and slams like a demolition ball. Weight is at 9.2lbs - it's not the lightest bass out there (or the heaviest) but it's well balanced and really benefits from the neck and body woods tonally - It sounds amazing.

Now, on to the aesthetics - The durable sparkle finish is silver with a slightly amber tint. The pickguard is solid Bubinga with a protective finish and gold screws. The Gildaxe treatment of the chambering is difficult to translate through pics. Using thin light reflecting/refracting foils and mirrored discs, the chambers are alive with visual activity - it's simply holographic in person. The back cover is made of smoked acrylic giving what's beneath a warm, mysterious glow. The 1/8" brass bridge anchor plate (which dynamically grounds the tone) is signed by me and dated.
