The finger board it made from the exact same billet as the neck for perfectly matching tonewood front and back. There is a steel zero fret for accurate tuning and intonation. This bass has the growl tone of the early Fender Jazz basses and the sustain of a Fodera or MTD. And a fraction of the cost.
