Custom Gibson F-5 1953

This is an original 1953 Gibson F-5 Mandolin. It is a one owner instrument and the family has recently decided to pull it from the closest and put up for sale. This is a beautiful mandolin and it comes with it's original case. The tuners have been replaced (there is an old set included in the case (not sure if they are the originals)). The frets and nut are original, some of the binding is coming loose near the nut and will need to be re glued. The original finish is worn on the back of the neck. The body is in good shape. The original pickguard is included.  The holes that the pickguard mounts into have slightly shrunk over the years.  The black veneer of the headstock has a few heavy checking/chips on top of the bass side of headstock. It almost looks like the top layer of wood is pulling up.  There is also a bit of poorly done finish touch up where the original owner tried to hide his pick wear. You could remove the touch up, or you could just put the original pickguard on and you would never see it. Original Bridge. Original tailpiece is attached to a custom made tailpiece. Original Case.  Case Candy Included. With a little bit of TLC this mandolin will be a monster player! You don't see these everyday.
