The Waterman Uke pays homage to the renowned ukulele designer, Mario Maccaferri. Inspired at the 1939 Worldë???½s Fair, he saw plastic as the material of the future. Maccaferri eventually combined his skills as a luthier and his business of injection molding and invented the Islander Ukulele, the first plastic stringed ukulele. The affordable quality instrument was a commercial success nearly overnight!
