A. J. Gaither is a travelling one man band from Kansas City, Kansas. He travels the U. S. playing his homemade cigar box guitars and has made a name for himself as a quality builder, and a class act. He doesn't just sing the blues, he writes them and lives them. No trust funds or fancy motor homes here, A. J. is as real as it gets. A full 25% of the proceeds of these guitars will go directly to A. J. to help keep him on the road making music.

A few months ago we invited A. J. up to the Gitty workshop where he showed us how to craft his signature straight headstock guitar necks. He also built a prototype of this guitar while he was here, and this is the result.

Built to A. J.'s exact specifications, this guitar is tuned to what he calls "Arkansas Tenor" tuning (EADG), or the lowest 4 strings on a standard 6-string guitar. Heavy brass-wound acoustic strings give the acoustic sound a deep growl, perfect for slide and fret players alike. While the Disc Piezo and Volume Pot harness allows for control when plugged into an amp.
