Product Description
The Gold Tone GT-750 Banjitar is a high-quality acoustic-electric instrument designed specifically for optimal volume and tone. After prototyping countless numerous tone ring materials, Gold Tone discovered a unique 20-hole bell brass tone ring. The brass was chosen for its bell-like sound characteristics and piano-like sustain. (When did you ever hear anyone talk about sustain in a banjo?) When compared to steel, the brass tone ring was found to create more acoustic volume and a more articulate tone. Banjo picking can be a harmonically and rhythmically complex undertaking, and keeping the instrument's voice focused is critical. Quite simply, Gold Tone nailed it!
The GT-750 is attractive to guitarists because there is no learning curve! The 1-3/4” nut, 25-1/2” scale and gently radiused fretboard will instantly feel at home. The bound Canadian Rock Maple neck has a very guitar-like “C” profile and shares more DNA with an electric than an acoustic guitar. The nut is genuine bone, the fretwork is excellent and the inlays are perfectly executed. The tuners are smooth, sure and tight and the plating is flawless throughout. Yeah, this is one well-thought-out instrument.
In addition to the bell brass flat top tone ring, the GT-750 sports a gorgeous curly maple resonator, bound rosewood fretboard and bound curly maple resonator. But what makes the GT-750 so special is the Sliding Magnetic Pickup (SMP) with volume control which provides a great banjo tone through an amplifier. The pickup can be moved to any location between the neck and the bridge, so you are easily able to find your own “sweet spot”. If you've become used to letting a drummer crowd you out of the live mix, now's your chance for payback!
True, only a few years ago, a banjitar would have been considered a ‘cheater’ banjo for guitarists, but today the banjitar is well accepted as its own instrument and can be heard in many different kinds of music. If you are a guitarist looking to add some new color to your sonic palette, the GT-750 will certainly be a welcomed addition to your collection.
Don't Forget The Case!
You can add a new Gator Deluxe GW-JM Banjo XL Journeyman Series hard case to your order for only an additional $99.99, and it would be a very wise decision. This is a well-made, wood arch-top case with a durable pebble weave burlap exterior and heavy antique brass hardware. The royal blue plush-lined interior is densely padded and includes an accessory compartment.
