Custom Martin BC-15E Acoustic/Electric Bass 2004 Natural Mahogany

This bass has been played a bit—there’s a little cosmetic wear—but no real dents, scratches or dings. However, it has the best acoustic and electric tone of anything we’ve heard recently.

This Martin BC-15E is one of the nicest-sounding acoustic basses we’ve had in the store. The body is about the size and shape of a Martin OOOO with cutaway. With the excellent Fishman Prefix bass preamp/pickup, it’s an outstanding axe for either plugged or unplugged performance.

The BC-15E features a satin-finish solid mahogany top, back and sides, with mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. Strings are secured to the mahogany bridge/tailpiece with large, vintage white bridge pins. There’s no binding, and an overlay herringbone rosette is the only trim—so the look is very understated. The preamp features 4-band EQ plus tunable Phase and Notch controls for maximum gain before feedback.

Cosmetically, the bass is in very good condition: a little buckle rash on back, a few fingernail marks on the top, and you can see where the previous owner rested his thumb along the top/fretboard. Other than that, it’s in great shape.
