Product Description

Up for sale, a Mike Lull NRT4 T-Bird in exceptional, near mint condition and in perfect working order. This custom ordered Lull is one of two to sport this unique Fireglo finish (the second one was a NAMM special), and features a particularly lightweight mahogany body and neck with a notably figured rosewood fretboard, both picked out by the original owner prior to the build. Topped off with a matching headstock veneer, this is one very unique Lull bass and was acquired directly from the original owner, where it was very well cared for and sparingly played. At only 7lbs 14oz, this is a T-Bird that's easy on the back and given the low profile tuners and smaller headstock than the Gibson equivalent, there is almost no neck dive!

The pickups have those deep, huge tones reminiscent of the classic 70’s grunt we all know and love but with a twist of extra sweetness and articulation. The pickups in the NRT4 were reverse engineered from a pair of genuine 1964 Thunderbird pickups, and the balance of detail and bark from these custom made pickups is truly remarkable. The acoustic response of the instrument is very even across all four strings, with sweet sustaining tones in every position and no dead spots! Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Lull NRT4 is dialed in with roundwound 45-100 strings, comfortable action, and spot-on intonation.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a medium C shaped profile with consistent depth and round, generous shoulders all the way up the neck. The silky smooth satin finish feels great on the palm and the thick slab rosewood fretboard features 21 frets, extending slightly over the pickguard to achieve the final fret. The vintage-style fretwire shows virtually no wear, with perfectly rounded crowns and no buzzing. On the headstock, the gloss mahogany veneer on the face has the "Mike Lull Custom Guitars" logo, mirrored by Lull's signature on the back along with the handwritten serial number. The Hipshot lightweight tuners turn very smoothly and hold pitch well.

All of the electronics work as they should, the chrome plating on the hardware is flawless, and the gloss Cherry Sunburst finish (called Fireglo by Lull ala Rickenbacker's color chart) fades from deep amber to saturated cherry at the edges of the body. The mahogany has some gorgeous diagonal figuring across the body, and we can't find a single nick or scratch on the bass. We'll conservatively call this bass "near mint," but it's as nice an example as you'll see and truly showroom clean.

Featured on Lull's site under the "Custom Builds" gallery, this is a unique chance to own an NRT4 with hand-picked woods and a custom color finish!

The original black tolex hardshell case is included and also near mint. The factory paperwork for the bass is also present, with the COA, manual, and Mike Lull sticker. The bass comes with the gold plexi pickguard seen in the photos (a must for furthering the Gibson meets Rickenbacker look of this bass), along with the original three-ply white guard.
