Custom Vintage 1971 Fender Precision Bass Sunburst Finish

What makes this bass special: A true vintage beauty, with a gorgeous look and incredible playability. The neck carve on this piece is spectacular, affording effortless maneuverability up and down the length of the nicely variegated rosewood fingerboard, while the sunburst finish is super vibrant-highlighting the exceptional nature of the woodgrain. The cut of alder used for the body is truly remarkable-very straight and very wide, allowing nearly perfect resonance. Condition-wise, it’s a ahead of the curve, in terrific shape for its age. And then of course you’ve got the classic sound…full and rounded, with enough versatility for just about anything. It’s been professionally setup and inspected by our expert in-house luthiers, and will arrive ready to play right out of the case.    

Cosmetic condition: Good condition for its age, with some expected playwear throughout. This one was definitely used, but not abused, with various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, and scuffs throughout, along with some weather checking and visible light fretwear. The original potentiometers were replaced with more contemporary CTS pots at some point, but everything else is original. The original owner also scratched “U.S. Army” into the neck plate, just beneath the serial. Overall this piece has a stunning look to it, with a gorgeous patina.

Body: Contoured solid alder body in sunburst finish with 3-ply tortoise pickguard and top-loading 4-saddle bridge. Original bridge cover, pickup cover, and rest are included.

Weight: 8 lb, 15.9 oz

Neck: Medium profile maple neck with black side dots and pearl dot inlays. Beautifully variegated rosewood fingerboard is in terrific shape, and frets show light wear for their age, with a ton of life left in them. Headstock sports a black logo and single string tree, with open-gear tuners in perfect functioning condition. 1 5/8” nut width, 34” scale length. Neck is straight and truss rod works as it should.

Electronics: Original split pickup (dates to ’71) with knurled chrome knobs, 1x volume, 1x tone. Pots are replacements. All electronics function as they should.

Case: Unoriginal Fender-style hard shell case.
