Product Description

This is a 1.8 shakuhachi bamboo flute in the key of D. With all holes closed it sounds a D pitch and using natural holes plays a D minor pentatonic scale. The instrument is capable of playing a full chromatic scale above 2 octaves which is normal for this instrument. It's well over 50+ years, I've owned it for approximately 15 years. I've been playing for 19 years. It will play all types of honkyoku and sankyoku music and is great for improv. It weighs 10.2 oz., Is 21 inches long. It has a small crack at the bell when I got it. It was repaired and has been fine for 15 years. The flute was reworked by Perry Yung to improve performance. I'm told the hanko says shugetsu, but I don't think it's by the same famous maker. I'm thinning the herd which is the reason I'm selling the flute. It's an extremely low price for a bamboo shakuhachi.
