Custom 1970 Fender Jazz Bass - Sunburst Over Olympic White - RARE Color w/ 2 Necks, OHSC

Selling this for a friend. I tried to talk him out of it, for obvious reasons...

This is a 1970 Fender Jazz Bass. Its no ordinary jazz bass; its color and fading pattern is most likely one of a kind. This bass is Sunburst over Olympic White, with absolutely stunning wear patterns and natural relicing - the stuff you usually see the Fender Custom Shop duplicating. 

Everything on the body is original, with the exception of the bridge pickup. This was a replacement, and was done a very long time ago (he was told late 70's). Its also missing the bridge cover. The bass shows usual wear for a well-gigged instrument from 1970. Some typical dings and bruises, normal finish checking, no cracks or breaks.

This bass will ship with two necks. The original neck to the bass, which is uninstalled at the moment, and a Fender licensed AllParts Japanese made maple neck, Geddy Lee style with black block inlays ($350 neck), and a 70's Fender-style waterslide Jazz Bass decal installed. The replacement neck is a perfect fit for the original; there is zero slop in the neck joint, and is as good of a fit as factory.

The bass is fully playable and adjustable with the new neck installed. The original neck has had some major truss rod repair work done (see photos of the base of the neck joint; you will see repair evidence), and will play if the nut is cut low enough, but it isn't exactly adjustable. We are including the original neck for you to experiment with (and we believe it belongs with the bass), but we're just not luthiers, and do not have the skills (nor the confidence) to mess with the possibility of repairing the neck to full functionality. 

The original tuners will be included, but they are almost inoperable. They turn, but are bent and turn very rough, and are not practical for everyday use. New Fender tuners have been installed, and have been aged to look similar to the original tuning machines.

Bass will ship in the original hard shell case. This is functional, but if you're a gigging musician, you will want something a little more sturdy. It shows plenty of wear and tear, and is not the most reliable case.

This is an opportunity to get a really, really swanky 1970 Jazz bass at reasonable price. If you're a luthier, you MAY be able to restore the instrument to almost stock conditions, but we are selling this as-is for this reason.
