The Fender FB-55 Banjo is designed for players who expect terrific sound and features with excellent affordability. It's a beautiful instrument, with a maple rim, mahogany back and other fine appointments that give it an elegant look and bright tone. It has all the twangy bite you expect from a fine banjo, making it excellent for bluegrass and country, and even for Celtic music, jazz and pop.

Rolled brass tone ring
The tone ring makes a major contribution to a banjo's tonal character. This brass tone ring is rolled rather than cast, produces clearly ringing tone with great volume and brightness, and doesn't weigh a banjo down too heavily.

Mahogany resonator
There's just something about the look of a banjo with a mahogany resonator-it's so gorgeous that it has to somehow make the music that much more beautiful.

What was refurbished on this banjo?
There is a tiny blemish on the hand rest and also on the back of the banjo.  I have included pictures pointing to each, but they are too small to show.

FAQ, frequently asked questions

Why are instruments sent to a refurbisher?  The instrument could be a discontinued model, have a finish imperfection, or need a minor repair.

Who refurbishes your instruments?  All of my instruments come from the largest and best refurbisher in the country, where any issue found is corrected by a factory trained and authorized luthier.

Does a refurbished instrument have the manufacturer warranty?  No, any instrument sent to a refurbisher, regardless of the reason it was sent there, no longer carries the manufacturer warranty.

Will I need to set up my instrument when I receive it?  All of my instruments have been set-up before shipping, so most are ready to play out of the box.  However some instruments may need a minor adjustment after shipping due to changes in temperature, humidity, and  getting bumped around during shipping.

What identifies an instrument as being refurbished?  All refurbished instruments have a small used stamp on the back of the head stock and are issued a new serial number.  This is to prevent an unethical dealer from concealing the fact that the instrument was sent to a refurbisher.
