Product Description
OverviewThis fretless Warmoth bass presents a fine selection of materials with booming / soaring fretless tone. It is a very nice combination of wood grains, superior quality components to making this one fine bass. Set up to perfection. If you're not sure about the nylons, I'll install new Fender flatwounds and set it up to perfection with those. It's good to go one way or the other. Made with pride in the USA. If you have any comments or question, please let me know.BodyQuilted Maple top on Alder finished in a superb Tobacco Burst.
Few mm long crack in finish at neck pocket. See picture. The deep Tobacco Burst edge color perfectly matches the Indian Rosewood fretboard. The quilt top maple is set off nicely by the long grain lines of the fretboard Sweet smaller figuring presented in the Birdseye Maple neck/head stockNeckStraight, comfortable C Profile Warmoth flamed Birdseye Maple, smooth and fast satin finish.
Factory installed, white Corian nut and pearl dot inlays on the side of the neck.
The Indian Rosewood 21 fret-length board has incredible grain lines presented. These grain lines run generally parallel along the length of the fretless board. The wood colors presented both in the Birdseye maple and the Indian Rosewood, the figuring in the maple as well as the long grain lines of the Indian Rosewood perfectly compliment the quilting of the maple top of the body as well as the tobacco burst finish. The contrasts of this bass are extraordinarily complimentary. ComponentsTuning Machines - With all of the complimentary contrasts in the wood figuring and grain, I elected to place my prized vintage 1968 tuning machines with a newer black string tree on the headstock. These 49 year old tuners compliment the black hardware on the body, and visually, the black string tree just brings it all together with the white Corian nut.
Pickups - Nordstrand NJ4SE Jazz Neck and Bridgepickups. These split-coil humbucking pickups are quiet. They are designed to provide a more pronounced low-mid and slightly muted high end.
This set is flexible - well suited for a fretless jazz bass - generally, the neck pickup is used for fretless play. With this set, thebridge pickup design is well suited to provide some tonal flexibility on the fretless, adding "some bark and heft". They are also "ideal for fingerstyle" and "great for noisy live situations". I think these are among the best jazz bass pickups available today.
The pickup and control pockets have been coveredin copper grounding tape. In addition, under each pickup, new vintage Fender grounding plate w/ foam were installed and grounded to therelated volume pot.
Bridge - The black Gotoh bridge is rock solidand in perfect condition. PlayabilitySet up to Fender spec. Action is low, no buzz, no dead spots. This bass plays exceptionally well and is ultraquiet. (Quietest bass I've ever handled.) The neck is fast. The new Fender Nylon Tapewounds are sonically pleasing, offer great sustain and look fantastic. I set up the tonal controls heavy on the bass and mid, and found the bass to provide incredibly pleasing tones, both on myRumble 500 as well as an Ampeg BA112 (used #2 mid control setting on the Ampeg).CaseBeautiful like new tweed Fender Select hard shell case in excellent condition.ConditionExcellent playing condition. ... Very good+++ condition on body - a few small slight swirls here and there. Neck is excellent except for a few tiny dings on the end of the headstock (not visible from front - see picture).... Other than that, nothing you wouldn't see in a new instrument that has been handled a few times.Buy with confidenceEvery aspect of your purchase will be handled in a first class manner - communications, responsiveness, shipping, packaging. Please review my feedback and buy with confidence. All reasonable offers will be considered. This bass is a magnificent instrument. You will love it.
