The Les Gavel bass is built to restore order to the groove. When you lower the boom with sledgehammer force, the backbeat will never be the same.

The Les Gavel began as “The Gavel”, then evolved to “Les Gavel”. Surprisingly the French article actually enhanced the power of the name. Certainly many will Anglicize the pronunciation of “Les” (lay) to “LES”. It's all good. We won't hold you in contempt. And technically it should be “le” for a singular noun like Gavel. But with poetic license, anything goes. And using “the” in front of “Les Gavel” is redundant, but we do it too. But enough of the jibber-jabber, let's get to the important stuff.

The Les Gavel features an alder body and 5-piece neck with maple middle and bookends, separated by walnut stripes. The body and headstock shapes create a look that is simultaneously modern and classic. The neck-thru design has functional access to all 24 frets. RMR single coil pickups, with noise-canceling humbucking wiring, "Thunderstick”(neck) and “The Leveler” (bridge) deliver the perfect tone whether you’re holding down the groove or slapping till your thumb bleeds. Mathas Brands’ special “Crimson Earth” color, with a silky smooth trans satin finish, showcases the shape, curves and beveled top of the Les Gavel at its best. Your eyes, ears and hands will show their collective appreciation.

The Mathas "GAVEL Dually", dual purpose bridge, offers your choice of string-thru body or string-over setup. Our new offset interpretation of the 2+2 tuning peg configuration balances the headstock shape of Les Gavel perfectly.

The neck has a maple fingerboard, medium jumbo stainless steel frets and Luminlay glowing side dots with the Mathas Guitars "pistol grip" shape. All Mathas Brands neck profiles are unique, thus have their own descriptive names. The "pistol grip" is a narrower neck with a moderately rounded back contour to maximize speed and comfort. The 9.5” fixed radius, consistent on our bass necks, provides perfect ergonomics whether you're "The Quiet One" or a "Wrathchild".

All our guitars and basses feature the brand logo, model typeface and icon logo on the headstock, Les Gavel in this case. The inlays also reflect the theme while the 24th fret provides the perfect location for the model name. The spoke wheel truss rod, with access above the neck pickup, keeps our headstocks pristine, eliminates the need for a truss rod cover and provides easy access for adjustments. The side input jack completes the uncompromising total presentation of our instruments.

All instruments are warranted to be free of any defects in materials and craftsmanship under normal usage and conditions, subject to the limitations listed below. If this guitar malfunctions due to faulty materials and workmanship, Mathas Brands will repair it at no charge or replace with a similar model (value not exceeding the original purchase price of the guitar). Return shipping and insurance will be paid by the original purchaser.Returned instruments will be examined for any defect(s). If determined to be the responsibility of Mathas Brands, instruments will be repaired under the terms of the warranty. Instruments will be repaired, and shipped, at no cost to the original purchaser. If the repair is not covered under warranty, an estimate repair will be provided to the original purchaser who is responsible for return shipping and insurance.
