ALDER BODY: pretty light weight, sweet grain, oil finish makes it very resonate. This is the same concept behind the thin varnish on violins - paint and poly choke the tone of an instrument, IMO. If you've ever played a 1965 Fender Jazz Bass that had its paint worn off you'll recognize that the bass really sings. This bass sings too. I think this bass with its oil finish sounds a lot better than new painted basses.

PICKUPS: they’re single coil beauties handmade by Howard Ulyate.

Passive electronics.

BRIDGE: the most basic Fender vintage style bridge. Why? Because I wanted this bass to sound like a real 1965 Fender Jazz Bass.

(disclaimer: it was not my idea to use that old style bridge. I was going to buy and install one of those fancy Hipshot bridges, but Matt at 30th street guitars talked me out of it.)

Also, Brady Muckleroy put it all together, so it plays like a dream.

NECK: Maple with Indian Rosewood fingerboard. Nice grain, dead straight, very resonate, oil finish ...
