Here is a great Christmas gift. Originally the instrument was a 1927 Vega, SN 57572 found on the pot and dowel, Style F, Tenor banjo with a 10-5/8" frosted head, tortoise plastic bound maple rim, maple neck, 17 fret pear wood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays, Replica "No Knot" tailpiece, mechanical friction pegs with Ivoroid buttons, newer 5th string tuner, 1-5/32" nut, ~19-7/8" scale,

In its present form it has undergone a conversion to the Long Neck 5 string ,13/16"nut and 32" scale that you see in the pictures. It allows playing in a greater selection of keys to accompany singers. This configuration was popularized in the folk music renaissance of the 1950/60's by various artists like Pete Seeger, The Kingston Trio and Bob Gibson. The wood used in the instrument is maple and the neck has a vintage mahogany finish. This sale includes both necks, and a hard used, hard shell case.                                                                                                             This makes the offer somewhat unique in that the buyer is really getting two banjos for the price of one. The one a "Seeger" style long neck folk banjo and the other with a very small bit of assembly, a very nice example of a model F Tenor banjo which is in very good condition.
