Custom Tanglewood F-Style Mandolin

DESCRIPTION

This Tanglewood TWMX-S-VSG is an F-Style mandolin that has a great bang for the buck factor.  The spruce top has very tight and straight grain, creating that combination of responsive lightness and exceptional stiffness. The back and side are linden, a member of the same family as basswood. Linden has long been used for string instruments, recorders and even drum shells.

The rest of this F-Style mandolin is built using proven, traditional materials with a one-piece bound maple neck and rosewood fretboard, rosewood bridge and engraved “4 on a plate” tuners.

The tone of this mandolin far exceeds what you might expect at this price. Its voice is balanced, firm and cutting, with enough “chop” to hold its own in a bluegrass setting.

Once we started carrying Tanglewood mandolins and banjos they quickly became our best selling brand. This is mainly due to the fact that they are better sounding and playing instruments than many instruments twice their price.
