Custom c1915 Orpheum No. 1 Tenor Banjo - lower price

The Orpheum brand was produced by Rettberg & Lange and features a patented tone ring design. Its short scale, comfortable fast neck and clear tone make it fun to play. I usually keep this banjo in standard tenor tuning (CGDA, 4th to 1st string) though it works fine with heavier strings in Irish tuning (GDAE). The short neck makes it easier to finger fiddle tunes (though plenty of players use the Irish tuning on long scale instruments as well). This example has been refretted, and the original friction pegs have been replaced with  geared tuners which is a big upgrade. Tailpiece is new as well. Scale length is 20 3/4" and the head is 11".  Maple rim. Comes with the original hard shell case in serviceable condition.  If you are looking for an affordable 17 fret short scale tenor, then you might consider this example since it has had all the work done and has a fine sound.
