Custom Collings MF5-V Varnish F-Style Mandolin

(NEW) The same wood search that located the set for the MF5s # 1344 and # 1356 found this beautiful gem for us. We were looking, again, for a slab of Sugar maple that would yield a stately but no frills ONE PIECE back, and we found it. A Collings MF5 is a lifetime mandolin, and a lifetime mandolin deserves Waverly tuners, so we did that as well (this one with PEARL knobs, thank you.) For this one we also added (MF5V deluxe style) TOP purfling (in addition to side purfling) which dials it up a notch. On top of that, we had this one finished in VARNISH. Other than that, it is just your essential iconic pro grade Collings F5 style mandolin with heirloom grade maple, dark sunburst finish, standard nut width, ivoroid bindings, reserve stock Adirondack spruce, and all of the chop, gurgle, and piano-like trebles one needs to win Winfield.
