Product Description
At the close of the decade, David Allen Coe met Dimebag Darrell in Fort Worth, Texas, and the two musicians, struck by the similarity of the approaches between country and heavy metal, agreed to work together, and began production on the ‘Rebel Meets Rebel’ album, with Vinnie Paul and Rex Brown, which was recorded sporadically between 1999 and 2003, and released in 2006. The music was written and recorded by the band when the musicians had time aside from their other projects, including Pantera's world tour supporting Reinventing the Steel.
Exclusive for the recording of this album, Rex acquired this beautiful Fender Jazz Bass, which was used throughout the entire writing and recording of the album. To quote Rex; “I got this bass, and all my Fenders that I used from day one, from Alex Perez at Fender. I would use these in the studio for different tones, but never live!! We recorded the whole DAC record with this bass... We had some incredible times doing this project with the original outlaw himself. This project was Dimes baby. He worked on this album until his untimely passing. It was something that I'm sure he took to the grave smiling about!! Long Live Dime and DAC!!”
The guitar has serial #N6149852 (located on headstock), Gotoh tuners and Fender factory pickups. The pearl pickguard has a clear protective sheet with all the settings marked on it that Rex used during the recordings. The bass comes in the original Fender custom case and is over all in very good condition with only a few minor dings, dents and scratches in areas.
A beautiful bass guitar with great provenance – and great history!
This guitar, which is signed by Rex on the back, comes directly from the personal collection of Rex Brown and will include a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Rex!
